Since entering the market, it has helped focus pullers and hit their marks with precision in all types of production environments. Moreover, DPs have been known to use the 1303 as a means of quickly viewing frame in tight spaces or difficult viewing environments such as helicopters, cranes, or shooting during sunset when time is running out.

The 1303 HDR quickly became industry standard, but SmallHD has always strived to grow with the industry to produce innovative tools and help creators bring their vision to life. We know many of our users still love the 1303HDR, so it's not going anywhere!
With that in mind, we’ve heard the requests from our community to develop a next-generation bright, portable,13” 4K production monitor. Enter Cine 13.
Let’s go over the major differences between the new SmallHD’s Cine 13 and its predecessor, 1303 HDR.
Image Quality
The major difference between the Cine 13 and the 1303 HDR is the panel. While the 1303 HDR produces high-quality images at a resolution of 1920 x 1080, the Cine 13 boasts a resolution of 3840 x 2160-- that’s over 6 million additional pixels! The 4K clarity in Cine 13 results from a pixel density of 338 pixels per inch versus 1303 HDR’s 170 pixels per inch. (2 times that of 1303).
One of the key features of the Cine family of 4K production monitors is daylight viewability-- Cine 13 boasts an impressive 1500+nits of brightness, ensuring that your shots can be viewed in any environment without a sunhood. Even more, the Cine 13 has a contrast ratio of 1300:1, a significant improvement from 1303 HDR’s 1140:1.
Our Development Team was also able to improve the Cine 13’s black uniformity over the 1303 HDR, which makes a noticeable difference if you are using your monitor in a dark studio environment. Cine 13, which has much better color rendition is an important upgrade for DPs because now, when in tight scenarios, they can trust more than just the framing, they can trust color and exposure as well!
Hardware & Form Factor
Another major update is overall build and form factor. Cine 13 is almost 25% lighter than the 1303 HDR (9lbs), weighing in at only 6.8lbs--making it ideal for mobile production. Focus pullers can easily rig this monitor in a helicopter or any vehicle for precise action shots.
We also improved the functionality of Cine 13’s control keys and joystick. While 1303 HDR includes buttons tied to PageOS4 toolsets like image capture, LUT selection and input selection, Cine 13 features 8 fully customizable quick keys to help streamline your workflow.
